love what you do and you never work a day. really.

Ok, I can officially say that I have the best internship I could've asked for. I'm not sure if I have mentioned this before, but I've been living in California for the past month because I'm interning for The Walt Disney Company! Yes! Finally, after all those months of waiting and anticipating, I landed an internship at the place I wanted the most. So I flew in to LA from Philly, and now I live in a studio apartment in Burbank.
I work in the ABC Television Group (which is a part of Disney), and I live at about a 15-minute walking distance from work. This also happens to be a famous equestrian neighborhood, so I get to see a lot of horses (and smell them), but also have to deal with flies as a consequence. I actually got in touch with a farm that's 5 minutes away from my apartment, and I may start taking riding lessons sometime soon so that's something I'm keeping in mind...
Anyways, back to my work. So I'm in the Digital Marketing/Social Media Department, and our team is a very small one -- only 7 people, 4 of whom are managers. It's also a pretty young team, and everyone is super helpful, friendly, funny, and just cool. I absolutely LOVE them.
In fact, yesterday, one of the managers on our team, came by my desk to see if I had some time to chat. He asked me if I was enjoying the internship so far, and if there was anything in specific that I would like to work on, or anything that I would like to see changed/improved. He said some great things about me, and it just made me SO happy to have that conversation with him. Not only was I impressed by the fact that he is so humble and caring, but also that he took the time out of his busy schedule to sit down and listen to me. Afterwards, he must have spoken to others on the team because everyone started coming to me with more work (which was something I requested).
In fact, I think today was the best day of my internship. Another of the managers also came by and asked me if I was bored. When I said "a little", he said "Ok, follow me. You're too smart, I don't want you to be bored."
We sat in his office and he asked me to help him on an important project. Because I can't explain what the project is, it's hard to explain why it was SO amazing for him to have asked my help on it. I absolutely LOVE working here, and am sad when I have to go home at the end of the day, and during weekends.
I always knew that the saying "you don't have to work a single day if you love what you do" was true, but it just feels so great to actually experience it.
Time is going by so fast, and I'm sure that on my last day here, I will be sad to leave. So for now, I'm going to try and soak in every moment of it to the fullest:)

PS: Tomorrow, I'm going to take my first step in being a true Cali girl-- my first surfing lesson is at 8AM! We'll see how it goes...
